A lyrical exploration of loss and love

In the wake of a terrible accident, Michael and Caoimhe rebuild their lives as best they can. But all Michael can remember is the boat out on the lough that never should have been there. The barometer points to rain as the young couple realise they might not grow old together.

Two new plays interwoven as one

‘Grips from start to finish’ Scotsman ****

LOUGH/RAIN is Real Circumstance’s second production, following its critically-acclaimed debut LIMBO (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2007, York Theatre Royal, Arcola Theatre, Mercury Theatre Colchester). Real Circumstance is an East of England company dedicated to supporting emergent artists and exploring new ways of playmaking.

Performed by Jot Davies and Kate Donmall
Directed by Dan Sherer

‘Keeps you silent until the final, shiver-inducing word’ Guardian, Pick of the Day

Declan Feenan is under commission at the Abbey Theatre Dublin and has been attached to the National Theatre. His first play LIMBO was produced by Real Circumstance. Clara Brennan is undertaking a PhD in Writing for Performance at Kingston University, and LOUGH/RAIN marks her professional debut.

‘Outstanding…one of Edinburgh’s most gripping hours’ British Theatre Guide **** (on LIMBO, 2007)
